About

Hey guys, I’m gonna skip the formal “about” section and just talk briefly about some philosophies of mine.

There is no “perfect” or “right” way to record a song. There are endless ways to record a song, with endless different outcomes, depending on the artist, producer, players in the room, engineer, day of the week, weather, or even level of hunger. That’s why, when recording a song, my first question after each take of each instrument is, “is it cool?” or, “does it feel right?” Which means that I tend to work very fast, trying to keep the momentum of that feeling. I feel that the creative process should flow freely, then be refined, then edited to the essentials. To me, that is where you find the truth of the song, and that is the most important thing to me.
